Tunnel van de Toekomst       (Tunnel of the Future)

The Tunnel van de Toekomst, a bicycle underpass under the N329 (“the Weg van de Toekomst”; or, “Road of the Future”), opened in late 2013, is the world’s first application of PleasantPass. Within this project the tunnel website and its content were developed in cooperation with local user groups, two schools, viz. ROC De Leijgraaf and Titus Brandsma Lyceum. Via Bluetooth on their mobile phones, cyclists can be detected and given a personal greeting when entering the tunnel, and they can also exchange personal messages with other users.
